The Thai Village was the first Thai restaurant in Remuera when it was established on 29 March 1996 and is owned and operated by husband and wife team Muk and Savang Kumjumpol who both originate from Thailand. Muk and Savang have extensive experience in the Thai hospitality industry - with Savang cooking in man Asian hotels before coming to Auckland where he cooked as a head chef. More than fourteen years that Thidarat and Savang have been working hard to ensure delicious Thai cuisine is served in a pleasant atmosphere, and with a famous Thai smile.

The Kunjumpol's philosophy is simple - stay true to the enchanting flavours and secrets of Thai cuisine using fresh natural herbs and produce New Zealand has to offer. With this in mind, Thai Village Restaurant has a myriad of tantalising dishes on its menu - deriving inspiration and authenticity from many regions within Thailand.

The Thai Village is one of very few Thai restaurants in New Zealand awarded Thai Select for Thai restaurants that meet the quality standards by the Department of Export Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce, Royal Thai Government. It certifies that the food, the hospitality and the atmosphere of the restaurant is authentic.

Savang's signature dish is the dramatic and exquisite flaming chicken which he introduced to New Zealand. Its volcanic presentation never fails to deliver in theatrics (it is literally pushed through from the kitchen where it explodes in dramatic flames) while the taste is nothing less than divine once the sparks have faded. As a head chef at Thai Village Restaurant, Savang always makes sure that all of the dishes in the menu will be as authentic as Thai food can be prior to being delivered to customers.

When diners visit Thai Village they can sit inside the cosy surroundings, or , if the weather is mild, dine alfresco on a warm summer's evening. Whatever the occasion — an intimate dinner for two or a function requiring out-catering — Thai Village Restaurant has something to satisfy everyone's tastes.
